Description

South Africa / Western Cape

In 2009, four wine enthusiasts decide to produce nothing less than one of the world's best wines in South Africa. They produce multi-terroir blends with an impressive quality standard for every single step of the winemaking process. In addition to the Grand Vin 4G, the winery vinified the second wine The Echo of G for the first time in 2011. The name is very aptly chosen, because it really is as close to the Grand Vin as an echo. The legendary winemaker Denis Dubourdieu and his cellar master have succeeded in creating a grandiose wine with great storage potential with the second wine of the 'First Growth of the Cape'. The grapes, hand-selected in several rounds, come from ten carefully selected parcels in the wine region Western Cape.

4G Wines

4G Wines Four wine enthusiasts decide to produce nothing less than one of the world's best wines in South Africa. No winery in the world goes to such lengths from hand-selection on the vine to gentle pressing, setting new standards in the fine wine world. The 4G Wine Estate is located in the picturesque landscape of the Cape Winelands, where the mighty Table Mountains meet the rolling hills of the vineyards. This exclusive winery has quickly established an outstanding reputation for exceptional wines that impressively showcase the potential and uniqueness of the South African terroir. It is the first Premier Cru in South Africa to be produced here. However, this level of quality can only be achieved in extremely limited production and the wine is already one of the rarest and most sought-after cult wines in the world. The exclusive wines from 4G regularly outperform the great Premier Grand Crus from Bordeaux at blind tastings. 2016 is the last vintage under the direction of the famous oenology professor and winemaker (including Cheval Blanc, d'Yquem and Margaux) Denis Dubourdieu. The wine was named Le Capitaine in his honor and is an equal monument to the charismatic professor and winemaker. The wines of 4G are a true reflection of the beauty and diversity of South Africa and a must for anyone who wants to experience the finesse and character of this special wine country.
