Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso 2019
Description
Description
Paleo Rosso, the flagship of the Le Macchiole winery, was bottled for the first time in 1989. In the first vintages it was vinified as a classic Bordeaux blend. From the 2001 vintage it is a pure Cabernet Franc and since then it has been a great success for winemaker Cinzia Merli. The fruit comes from a 5.5 hectare plot that rises from 37 to 70 meters above sea level. The soils are a mixture of clay, sand, mud, stone and limestone, characteristic of this stretch of Tuscan coast. The name "Paleo" refers to wild herbs that grow on the Tuscan coast and symbolizes the wine's strong local identity.
