Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso 2019
Description
Description
Paleo Rosso, the flagship wine of the Le Macchiole winery, was first bottled in 1989. In its early vintages, it was vinified as a classic Bordeaux blend. From the 2001 vintage onwards, it became a single-varietal Cabernet Franc and has since been a great success for winemaker Cinzia Merli. The grapes come from a 5.5-hectare plot that rises from 37 to 70 meters above sea level. The soils are a mix of clay, sand, silt, stone, and limestone, characteristic of this stretch of the Tuscan coast. The name "Paleo" refers to wild herbs that grow on the Tuscan coast, symbolizing the wine's strong local identity.
