The Karthäuserhof Brut is an elegant German Sekt from the Ruwer Valley (Mosel) that combines traditional bottle fermentation with the unique terroir of Karthäuserhof. This strictly limited Sekt is a cuvée of Riesling and Pinot Blanc and matures for 36 months on fine lees.

Responsible for this masterpiece is Mathieu Kauffmann, who was cellar master at Bollinger for over ten years. It was he who realized the centuries-old dream of a Karthäuserhof Sekt.

Karthäuserhof

Karthäuserhof is one of the oldest wine estates in the world. It was founded in 1335 by Carthusian monks, who received the estate as a gift from Elector Balduin of Luxembourg and shaped it for centuries as a monastery winery.

The vineyards lie in the famous Eitelsbacher Karthäuserhofberg, a steep slate site in the Ruwer that is world-renowned for its clear, mineral and long-lived Rieslings.

Today, the estate combines historic tradition with modern precision and is counted among Germany’s most renowned Riesling producers.

Mosel

The Mosel is one of Germany’s oldest and most renowned wine regions, shaped by spectacular steep slopes along the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer rivers. The sometimes extreme slate slopes store heat and give the wines a distinctive minerality.

At its heart is Riesling: filigree, fragrant and precise, with crystal-clear acidity and often lower alcohol.

Alongside Riesling, Elbling, Müller-Thurgau and increasingly exciting sparkling wines can also be found. The Mosel stands for finesse rather than power: delicate fruit, slate spice and elegant lightness. Picturesque towns such as Bernkastel, Traben-Trarbach and Winningen, together with traditional estates and historic cellars, make the region a paradise for Riesling lovers.
