Description

F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Ried Klostersatz 2024 comes from a flatter vineyard near the Danube in the Wachau, shaped by sandy, gravelly alluvial soils, and is made exclusively from Grüner Veltliner. The nose shows green apple, ripe citrus fruit, a little yellow plum and delicate peppery spice. On the palate it offers clear, juicy fruit, lively acidity and a direct, lightly mineral finish that reflects its origin.

F.X. Pichler

This leading Wachau estate is known worldwide for highly concentrated yet precise white wines from the finest terraced sites along the Danube. On lean primary rock, Grüner Veltliner and Riesling develop enormous density, profound minerality and impressive length. Multiple passes of hand harvesting, rigorous selection and very precise, clean vinification define the style: crystal-clear fruit of citrus, stone fruit and ripe apple, spicy and smoky notes, and taut but perfectly integrated acidity. The Smaragd single-vineyard wines in particular are considered icons with great ageing potential, gaining additional complexity with bottle age. These Wachau wines are powerful, distinctive and remarkably elegant – ideal for connoisseurs, collectors and fine-dining pairings.

Origin in Focus

Wachau

The Wachau is one of the world's most renowned white-wine regions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the Danube, spectacular stone terraces stretch across lean primary-rock soils of granite, gneiss and schist, giving the wines tension, minerality and longevity. Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are the focus, always in a clearly dry style: from fragrant, light Steinfeder and precise Federspiel wines to powerful, densely woven Smaragd wines with excellent ageing potential. Typical aromas include citrus, stone fruit, white pepper and herbs, accompanied by cool, saline minerality. Vinea Wachau's strict focus on origin and meticulous manual work on the steep slopes ensure consistently high quality. The Wachau offers everything from elegant aperitif wines to complex single-vineyard bottlings for collectors and fine dining.
