Description

Founded in 1935, the winery rose to the top ranks of German wineries in the 1960s. Today, Joachim Heger and his wife Silvia manage the family business in its third generation. By cultivating wine according to organic guidelines, the wines express the unique terroir of the Kaiserstuhl even better. The Ihringer Winklerberg, one of the world's most famous sites, is of volcanic origin. The grapes for the Pinot Blanc of the same name come from its "Gras im Ofen" parcel. This "Große Gewächs" (Grand Cru) shows the characterful, finely structured minerality and elegant finesse of an expressive terroir wine.

Origin in Focus

Baden

Baden is Germany’s southernmost and one of its warmest wine regions, stretching along the Upper Rhine from Kraichgau to Lake Constance. The mild climate and varied soils – from loess and limestone to volcanic rock in the Kaiserstuhl – allow for a broad range of styles. The focus is on Burgundy varieties: Spätburgunder for elegant to powerful reds, Grauburgunder and Weißburgunder for juicy, balanced white wines.

The nine subregions, including Kaiserstuhl, Tuniberg, Markgräflerland, Ortenau and Tauberfranken, show individual profiles, from mineral tension to a ripe, Mediterranean character.
