The 2015 Domaine de Chevalier is medium to deep garnet purple in color and has a lovely spiciness on the nose - Chinese spices and black pepper - with a core of red and black cherries and smoked meat. Medium-bodied, fine and refreshing, it is very mineral on the palate and persistent on the finish.

Domaine de Chevalier

Domaine de Chevalier is one of the top Grands Crus Classé in Pessac-Léognan. South of Bordeaux, it lies like a secret garden in the middle of a picturesque, secluded forest clearing.

Elected President of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux at the end of 2012, Olivier Bernard has invested carefully in his first Bordeaux winery. Domaine de Chevalier has become a fascinating marriage of traditional approaches to typical Graves winemaking and the latest infrastructure and technology.

For example, in 2015 this winery was one of the first major Bordeaux houses to use Diam corks instead of traditional ones. These corks lead to fewer defects and prevent early oxidation. The wines from the domaine therefore also promise a great aging process.

Olivier Bernard has big plans for the Domaine de Chevalier and at the same time makes it clear that he wants to remain true to the regional character of his classic Pessac-Léognan wines and rejects speculative pricing.

The well-known consultant and winemaker from Saint-Émilion, Stéphane Derenoncourt, has also been brought on board as a consultant for the winery. This promises further great vintages for this top winery.
