Description

The Colle Massari winery is located in Tuscany on the slopes of Monte Amiata and is a pioneer in organic viticulture in the Montecucco region. The Montecucco Rosso Riserva is made from Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are harvested by hand and gently processed. After aging in barriques and tonneaux, the wine displays a deep ruby red color, intense cherry notes, and an elegant balance between freshness and tannin. Colle Massari combines sustainable architecture with traditional craftsmanship and produces wines with a strong regional character.

Colle Massari

Colle Massari lies in the Montecucco area between Montalcino and the Maremma and is one of Tuscany’s most exciting biodynamic producers. The vineyards are high and exposed to winds on the slopes of Monte Amiata; cool nights, abundant sunshine and mineral limestone and galestro soils provide tension, freshness and clear structure. Sangiovese is at the centre, showing darker fruit, spicy depth and yet elegant acidity here. Cuvées with Ciliegiolo and international varieties add further complexity. Colle Massari works with low yields, gentle vinification and restrained oak use. The result is authentic, vibrant and finely balanced wine with regional character and excellent value for money – ideal for Tuscany lovers seeking terroir and sustainability.

Origin in Focus

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy’s defining wine regions, known for Sangiovese and iconic appellations such as Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Mediterranean climate with sea breezes and diverse soils produces elegant, fresh wines with structure. On the coast, ‘Super Tuscans’ are also made from Cabernet, Merlot and other varieties. In addition to red wines, the region offers characterful whites such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Vermentino, as well as the traditional dessert wine Vin Santo. The result: tradition meets innovation – with clear terroir expression and great drinking pleasure.
