Description
Description
France / Bordeaux / Pomerol
Château Le Pin was founded in 1924, but the first vintage of Le Pin is considered to be the 1979. In that year, the Thienpont family bought the small 2.3-hectare winery with the aim of producing wines that were equal in quality to those of Château Pétrus. With success, because the 1982 vintage was already awarded 100 Parker points and drew the attention of demanding wine collectors to the winery. Le Pin is often compared to Pétrus because of their shared origin, quality, and high prices, but in reality, they are very different. Le Pin is more open, generous, and fruitier compared to the characteristically masculine and structured Pétrus. However, Le Pin is much rarer to find than Pétrus, of which six times the quantity is produced in an average year.
