Description

France / Bordeaux / Côtes de Bordeaux / Castillon

Château d'Aiguilhe, acquired by Stephan Graf von Neipperg at the end of 1998, is one of the most beautiful wineries in the Castillon – Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. The vineyards, located on the plateau, benefit from natural drainage and, thanks to their overall southern orientation, excellent sun exposure. The clay, limestone, and loam soils form a thin, rather sparse layer over a limestone subsoil, which ensures excellent water regulation. In conjunction with the average age of the vines, these natural conditions create ideal prerequisites for viticulture. The wines from Château d'Aiguilhe beautifully express the strong identity of their terroir: they combine power and freshness.

Château d’Aiguilhe

Château d’Aiguilhe is one of the most important estates in Castillon-Côtes-de-Bordeaux and has belonged since the 1990s to the von Neipperg family, also known for wines such as Canon-la-Gaffelière and La Mondotte. The impressive estate lies on a high plateau of pure limestone, a terroir that gives the wines their characteristic tension, minerality and freshness.

The vineyards are mainly planted with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which, thanks to sustainable farming and careful yield control, produce grapes of exceptional ripeness and precision. In the cellar, the team uses modern technology, gentle vinification and balanced use of barriques to preserve fruit purity and elegance.

Today, Château d’Aiguilhe stands for powerful yet refined and elegant Bordeaux that regularly rank among the best wines of the appellation and offer excellent value for money.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
