Description

France / Bordeaux / Barsac

Only five families have owned the Premiere Cru Château since its foundation. This is rare and explains why the area of its vineyard has remained virtually unchanged over the centuries. In 1992, Bérénice Lurton took over the Château from her father. She harvests and processes the plots one by one and blends individual batches to achieve the right balance. The resulting homogeneity of quality every year is truly impressive. The year 2010 marked an important turning point in the management of the vineyards, when Bérénice Lurton made the decision to convert all viticulture to biodynamics. Fittingly, Château Climens was awarded the Bordeaux Best Of Wine Tourism Gold Award for sustainable wine tourism practices.

Château Climens

Château Climens is located in the heart of the renowned Sauternes wine region in Bordeaux. Since its founding, only five families have owned this Premier Cru château, which explains its unique and continuous quality over the centuries.

Under the expert leadership of Bérénice Lurton, who took over the estate from her father in 1992, Château Climens has undergone remarkable development. The year 2010 marked a decisive turning point in the estate’s history, when Bérénice Lurton boldly decided to convert the entire vineyard operation to biodynamics.

This commitment to sustainability and ecological responsibility is reflected not only in the incomparable character of its wines, but was also honoured with the coveted Bordeaux Best Of Wine Tourism Gold Award for sustainable wine tourism practices.

The château is proud to be certified both organic and biodynamic, underlining its deep connection to nature and terroir. With every sip of Château Climens, you experience the authentic essence of an estate that embodies not only tradition and history, but also innovation and a clear vision for the future of viticulture.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
