Description

France / Bordeaux / Pomerol

Located on the famous Pomerol plateau, surrounded by illustrious neighbors such as Vieux Château Certan and La Fleur-Pétrus, Château Certan de May has long been considered one of the best wineries in the appellation. The wines owe their complexity to the soil composition of the vineyard, a combination of clay and gravel that brings together power and elegance, structure and freshness. The balance of the wines from Château Certan de May illustrates the unique composition of this terroir. The wine is complex, powerful, and can be enjoyed after just a few years of bottle storage, but its structure and depth also give it great longevity.

Château Certan De May

Château Certan de May de Certan is a traditional Pomerol estate on the famous Certan plateau. The vines – dominated by Merlot and supported by Cabernet Franc and a little Cabernet Sauvignon – are rooted in a mosaic of gravel, clay and iron-rich ‘crasse de fer’, which brings density, spice and a noble, cool tension. Precise manual work is central in the vineyard; in the cellar, vinification is carried out parcel by parcel, with gentle extraction and measured use of oak. The style: silky yet deep, with dark cherry, plum, violet, graphite and a long, velvety flow of tannin – classic Pomerol charm with seriousness and ageing potential.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
