Description

Italy / Tuscany

From the very beginning, the Caiarossa winery has embraced the principles of biodynamic farming. Winery owner Eric Albada Jelgersma, who is also responsible for Grand Cru Château Giscours, introduced Caiarossa to the world of quality wines. North of Bolgheri and very close to the Tuscan coast, the vineyards are located at an altitude of 600 m. The red soils typical of the region give the estate the "Rossa" part of its name. The Caiarossa is the estate's flagship wine and is vinified entirely in the style of a Super Tuscan. It can be enjoyed three years after harvest and improves with each year in the cellar.

Caiarossa

Caiarossa lies in Riparbella on the Tuscan coast and is one of Italy’s most exciting biodynamic estates. The diverse soils – from clay and limestone to red sandstone – shape the complex, terroir-driven style of the wines. The warm climate, moderated by the sea, allows optimal ripening, while cool nights preserve freshness and balance. Caiarossa is known for refined cuvées from Bordeaux and Mediterranean varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Sangiovese. The wines show depth, elegance, spicy aromatics and silky structure, always underpinned by mineral tension. With consistent biodynamics and gentle vinification, Caiarossa has become a fixture on the Tuscan coast – powerful, sensual and characterful.

Origin in Focus

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy’s defining wine regions, known for Sangiovese and iconic appellations such as Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Mediterranean climate with sea breezes and diverse soils produces elegant, fresh wines with structure. On the coast, ‘Super Tuscans’ are also made from Cabernet, Merlot and other varieties. In addition to red wines, the region offers characterful whites such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Vermentino, as well as the traditional dessert wine Vin Santo. The result: tradition meets innovation – with clear terroir expression and great drinking pleasure.
