The 2018 Tenuta di Biserno Lodovico shows a high level of focus in this vintage, which was not always easy given some additional rain showers. This full-bodied Tuscan red is very intense, while maintaining a careful sense of balance and aromatic equilibrium. It shows great, black intensity with plenty of fruit. The wine is at the proverbial crossroads between power and elegance.

Tenuta di Biserno

Tenuta di Biserno, a renowned winery on the border of Bolgheri in Tuscany, was founded in 1995 by Lodovico Antinori, who became known worldwide for his famous Ornellaia wines.

Originally the vineyards were to become part of Ornellaia, but Antinori recognized the unique terroir and decided to start his own winery project. Today Tenuta di Biserno produces an impressive range of Super Tuscan wines under the IGT Toscana.

The vineyard is located in the coastal region of Alta Maremma, where the cooling influences of the Mediterranean are noticeable. The soil, rich in limestone and calcium carbonate, offers ideal conditions for the grape varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, which have thrived here since 2003. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel before being aged in French oak and in the bottle.

Biserno's flagship product is the Insoglio del Cinghiale, a powerful cuvée of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot, produced only in the best vintages.
