Tenuta dell‘ Ornellaia

Tenuta dell’Ornellaia is one of Tuscany’s most important estates and is internationally renowned for its Super Tuscans. The estate lies on the Tuscan coast near Bolgheri, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its vineyards extend across two neighbouring areas separated by the famous cypress avenue of Bolgheri, covering around 99 hectares of vines. Ornellaia was founded in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori, who developed the estate in Castagneto Carducci from that year onward. From the beginning, the goal was to produce wines at the very highest level – inspired by Bordeaux, yet shaped by the maritime climate and the soils of the Maremma. Today, Ornellaia belongs to the Frescobaldi Group, which has run the estate for almost two decades and continues to strengthen its prestigious position.

Origin in Focus

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy’s defining wine regions, known for Sangiovese and iconic appellations such as Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Mediterranean climate with sea breezes and diverse soils produces elegant, fresh wines with structure. On the coast, ‘Super Tuscans’ are also made from Cabernet, Merlot and other varieties. In addition to red wines, the region offers characterful whites such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Vermentino, as well as the traditional dessert wine Vin Santo. The result: tradition meets innovation – with clear terroir expression and great drinking pleasure.
