Poggio di Sotto

Poggio di Sotto is one of the finest addresses for Brunello di Montalcino and is located in the southern part of the appellation near Castelnuovo dell’Abate. The vineyards sit relatively high and face south and south-east, where intense sunshine, constant winds and cooler nights come together. Only Sangiovese is grown, using old, carefully selected clones; yields are deliberately low and vineyard work is strongly focused on nature and quality. In the cellar, the estate follows a classical, traditional line: long fermentation, extended ageing in large Slavonian oak casks and plenty of patience. The style is exceptionally elegant and layered Brunello with bright cherry fruit, floral notes, herbs, fine spice, cool minerality and silky yet deep tannins. Despite their concentration, the wines feel almost weightless and have enormous ageing potential – ideal for Tuscany lovers and collectors of great Sangiovese classics.

Origin in Focus

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy’s defining wine regions, known for Sangiovese and iconic appellations such as Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Mediterranean climate with sea breezes and diverse soils produces elegant, fresh wines with structure. On the coast, ‘Super Tuscans’ are also made from Cabernet, Merlot and other varieties. In addition to red wines, the region offers characterful whites such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Vermentino, as well as the traditional dessert wine Vin Santo. The result: tradition meets innovation – with clear terroir expression and great drinking pleasure.
