Description

Germany / Rheingau / Harvester / Dachsberg

"Doos" is the Rheingau dialect for badger and the Dachsberg is a valuable single vineyard site east of Oestrich. Here in the traditional wine town on the banks of the Rhine lies the VDP winery Peter Jakob Kühn. A winemaker who passionately makes authentic wines that can clearly show their origins. The grapes for this great wine come from the Doosberg with its calcareous loess clay, interspersed with Taunus quartz. The rich soils produce powerful wines and the rather windy vineyard top brings a fresh coolness to the wine.

Peter Jakob Kühn

Peter Jakob Kühn is one of Germany’s most renowned biodynamic estates and a flagship for precise, characterful Rieslings from the Rheingau. The vineyards are located in high-quality sites with slate, loess and quartzite soils, giving the wines structure and pronounced minerality. The interplay of sustainable cultivation, careful manual work and long maturation in the cellar results in wines of impressive clarity, tension and inner calm. Kühn’s Rieslings often show deep herbal spice, lively acidity and elegant fruit, accompanied by remarkable ageing potential. The dry single-site wines also have great radiance and regularly rank among the Rheingau’s finest.
