Description

France / Rhône / Northern Rhône / Côte-Rôtie

The French négociant E.& M. Guigal was founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small village in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. Étienne oversaw 67 wine vintages in the Côte-Rôtie. His son Marcel Guigal took over management in 1961 and made a significant contribution to improving quality. Marcel Guigal became internationally known in the mid-1980s thanks to the highest ratings from wine journalist Robert M. Parker. He is considered one of the best winemakers in the world. His son Philippe is now the oenologist of the domaine, and together with his wife Eve he represents the third generation of the family business.
