The Domaine de Chevalier is one of the elite of the Grands Cru Classé in Bordeaux. The fact that Chevalier has never abandoned the name "Domaine" in favor of the newer designation "Château" is a testament to the long history of the winery. In 1983, the Domaine de Chevalier was acquired by the Bernard family, one of the most important wine merchants and winemaking families in Bordeaux. Since then, Chevalier has been managed by winemaker Olivier Bernard, who has gradually introduced a winemaking philosophy that revolves around the perfect balance of the wines.

Domaine de Chevalier is one of the top Grands Crus Classé in Pessac-Léognan. South of Bordeaux, it lies like a secret garden in the middle of a picturesque, secluded forest clearing.

Elected President of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux at the end of 2012, Olivier Bernard has invested carefully in his first Bordeaux winery. Domaine de Chevalier has become a fascinating marriage of traditional approaches to typical Graves winemaking and the latest infrastructure and technology.

For example, in 2015 this winery was one of the first major Bordeaux houses to use Diam corks instead of traditional ones. These corks lead to fewer defects and prevent early oxidation. The wines from the domaine therefore also promise a great aging process.

Olivier Bernard has big plans for the Domaine de Chevalier and at the same time makes it clear that he wants to remain true to the regional character of his classic Pessac-Léognan wines and rejects speculative pricing.

The well-known consultant and winemaker from Saint-Émilion, Stéphane Derenoncourt, has also been brought on board as a consultant for the winery. This promises further great vintages for this top winery.
