Description

Domaine Bonneau du Martray Grand Cru Charlemagne 2022 comes from the limestone-rich slopes of the Corton hill in Burgundy and is made from Chardonnay. The nose shows citrus fruit, white peach and fine floral notes, joined by saline minerality. On the palate the wine is taut and precise, with clear fruit, well-integrated acidity and a long finish. Domaine Bonneau du Martray

Domaine Bonneau du Martray is one of Burgundy's great icons – and at the same time a rare exception: the estate is devoted exclusively to Grand Crus. On the legendary Corton hill, the family has farmed contiguous top sites for Corton-Charlemagne (Chardonnay) and Corton (Pinot Noir) for generations.

The parcels extend from the cool upper edge near the forest down to the more powerful lower slopes, producing a fascinating cuvée that is vinified parcel by parcel and combines depth with precision. Strict yield limitation, careful hand harvesting and restrained use of oak define the style: powerful but never heavy wines, carried by saline minerality, cool tension and enormous ageing potential.

Bonneau du Martray is not a loud star but a quiet legend – for purists seeking the unadulterated character of the Corton hill in the glass.

Origin in Focus

Burgundy

The Burgundy (Bourgogne) wine region is shaped by small parcels and historic vineyards. The focus here is on two grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – which reflect soil, climate and craftsmanship with exceptional transparency.

Between Dijon and Mâcon, a narrow band of vineyards stretches for around 250 km, each with its own distinctive character.
