Description
Description
France / Bordeaux / Saint-Émilion
Château L'If was purchased in 2010 by Jacques Thienpont, who also owns the famous Château Le Pin. Le Pin got its name from the solitary pine tree on the estate. As a tribute to their winery in Pomerol, Château L'If also drew inspiration for its name from a tree. L'If roughly translates to yew tree. After purchasing the estate, a lot of work was invested in the vineyard with the aim of increasing the Cabernet Franc proportion in the vineyards. Until the newly planted vines are old enough to produce wine at the quality level desired by the Château, the annual wine production will be very small, and the wine will accordingly be difficult to obtain.
