Drinkability & Storage – A Compact Guide

The right time and proper storage determine enjoyment and quality. Here you will find the most important rules – clear, concise and reliable.

Recognizing the drinking window
Vintage & region: Climate, harvest time, style
Producer & cuvée: Aging, structure, tannin/acidity
Bottle format: Magnum matures slower, 0.75 l faster
Observe tasting notes; if unsure: "try" 1 bottle

Storage conditions
11–14 °C constant, 65–75 % humidity, dark
Store horizontally (natural cork), avoid vibrations
Clean, well-ventilated shelves; no foreign odors

Serving & Decanting
Temperature:
Sparkling wine 6–8 °C, White 8–12 °C, Red 14–18 °C
Decanting:
young, structured red wines: aerate
aged wines: carefully separate from sediment
Glasses: thin-walled, bowled; no dishwashing detergent residue

Avoid common mistakes
Temperature fluctuations, light, too low humidity
Upright storage for cork; decanting aged wines for too long

Sustainable enjoyment
Prefer producers with responsible cultivation; focus on quality & environment
