Classic Bordeaux from the Médoc

Grape varieties of Château Les Ormes de Pez
The traditional Château Les Ormes de Pez is located in the heart of the Médoc, north of Pauillac, in the famous Saint-Estèphe appellation. Its vines are deeply rooted in the gravelly soils of the Gironde and reflect the essence of classic Bordeaux wines.
The grape variety distribution is typical for the Médoc: around 65% Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and longevity, 25% Merlot adds richness and fruit, while Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot contribute fine spice and complexity.
This combination results in premium wines that impress with both depth and elegance. Today, the Les Ormes de Pez winery is one of the best addresses for characterful French wines from the northern Médoc.
Red Wines from Château Les Ormes de Pez
The red wines of Château Les Ormes de Pez embody the classic Médoc style – powerful, harmonious, and shaped by the terroir. The estate has belonged to the Cazes family for decades, who also own the renowned Château Lynch Bages.
The grapes are carefully hand-picked and fermented in stainless steel tanks before maturing for about 16 months in French barriques, one-third of which are new. This traditional winemaking process gives the wines their dense aromatic profile of dark berries, cassis, violets, and cedar, underscored by subtle spice notes.
On the palate, power and elegance are in ideal balance: ripe tannins, a precise structure, and a long finish. Vintages such as 2016, 2018, and 2019 are among the finest examples of the estate's style – long-lasting Bordeaux wines with depth and authenticity.
White wines from Les Ormes de Pez winery
Château Les Ormes de Pez focuses entirely on the production of red wines. The Saint-Estèphe region is known for its powerful cuvées of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot – white wines are traditionally hardly produced here.
Nevertheless, the precision of the house reflects a philosophy that is also evident in other projects of the Cazes family: balance, purity, and expression of the terroir.
