Château Angelus
The history of the prestigious Château Angélus is both one of the oldest and one of the youngest in Bordeaux. The origins of the de Boüard winemaking family date back to 1544, but the Château as we know it today was not founded until 1909. At that time, Maurice de Boüard de La Forest bought a parcel of land called L'Angelus and named his estate after it. Since then, the winery has a rich tradition and has been passed down from generation to generation.
The name "Angélus" comes from the three bells of the nearby church, which chime every morning, noon, and evening and are said to bring good fortune to the vineyards. Since 2012, it has belonged to the small circle of the four Premier Grand Cru Châteaux in Saint-Émilion. Today, Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal leads the Château in its eighth generation. The dedicated winemaker is committed to environmental and species protection and works in the vineyard and cellar using natural and sustainable methods. The Grand Vin of Château Angélus is one of the most sought-after and expensive wines of Saint-Émilion and regularly receives prestigious awards from the wine world.
