Italy – A Wine Country with Soul, Diversity, and Millennia of Tradition

Italy is not only one of the oldest wine-producing countries in the world, but also one of the most diverse. From the alpine north to the hot south, from the Mediterranean coasts to the heights of the Apennines – hardly any other country offers such a range of grape varieties, climate zones and wine styles. With over 20 wine-growing regions, more than 400 indigenous grape varieties and a deeply rooted culture of enjoyment, Italy is one of the most important wine producers worldwide.

The wines of Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

The Grand Vin Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is now one of the most sought-after Bordeaux wines in its appellation. Its style differs markedly from many classic Pessac-Léognan wines.

Typical aromas include black cherry, cassis, violet, herbs, spices, graphite and fine smoky notes. Floral and spicy elements are also common, often attributed to the high proportion of Cabernet Franc and the use of whole bunches.

Despite their concentration, the wines are remarkably precise and fresh. They combine depth and power with exceptional elegance and continue to evolve over decades.

Alongside the Grand Vin, the château produces “Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion”, a second wine offering earlier access to the house style. Limited production and high quality have helped make the wines some of the most sought-after premium wines from Bordeaux.

For many critics, Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion represents a new generation of great Bordeaux estates: deeply rooted in terroir while remaining open to innovative ideas and new approaches.
