Italy – a wine country with soul, diversity, and millennia-old tradition

Italy is not only one of the oldest wine countries in the world, but also one of the most diverse. From the Alpine north to the warm south, from the Mediterranean coasts to the higher elevations of the Apennines, hardly any other country offers such a broad range of grape varieties, climates, and wine styles. With more than 20 wine regions, over 400 indigenous grape varieties, and a deeply rooted culture of enjoyment, Italy is among the world’s most important wine producers.

The wines of Château de Beaucastel

Beaucastel's red “Châteauneuf-du-Pape” is one of the Rhône's most famous red wines. The cuvée combines dark berry fruit, herbs, pepper, leather, garrigue and characteristic spice with remarkable freshness and structure. Thanks to the high proportion of Mourvèdre, great vintages often have the potential to mature for several decades.

The flagship “Hommage à Jacques Perrin” is regarded as one of France's most sought-after premium wines. Produced only in particularly good years, it is based predominantly on very old Mourvèdre vines. Its combination of power, complexity and longevity has made it an icon of the Rhône.

The estate also produces “Côtes du Rhône Rouge Coudoulet” from 30 hectares located just outside Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It ranks among the finest Côtes du Rhône wines.

The white wines also enjoy an excellent reputation. Beaucastel's “Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc” can mature for decades. Roussanne is particularly important to the style, contributing aromas of honey, white flowers, apricot and spice. “Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Vieilles Vignes” is one of France's great white wines, and there is also an excellent white “Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet”.

In addition to its Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines, Famille Perrin produces numerous other wines from the Côtes du Rhône and other Rhône appellations. Château de Beaucastel remains the historical and qualitative heart of the family business, which has recently built a pioneering new winery designed to operate sustainably and with climate neutrality.
