Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia

The 2021 Tenuta San Guido Bolgheri Sassicaia is a typical Sassicaia that represents the excellence of the vintage and also respects the unique flavor profile of this exquisite Tuscan blend of Cabernets, Sauvignon and Franc. The Tenuta San Guido 2021 Bolgheri Sassicaia offers impeccable balance, excellent freshness and absolutely no signs of overripeness. The fruit balance is ideal with a hint of crunch and lingering tension through the pulp and skins. The tannins are skilfully managed with a firm grip and enough velvety to add volume and length. There is no green in the bouquet, instead it offers mulled herbs and spices, with cinnamon and clove, delicately layered between mostly red and some purple berry fruits. Red currant, blueberry, sweet pomegranate and Rainier cherry are strongly represented in this vintage. A fragrant hint of Heritage Rose emerges over time. The oak tones lean towards gingerbread, hazelnut, cigar, sandalwood and something like a grilled red pepper. On the palate it offers a pleasant weight without heavy glycerine and a burst of acidity that adds to the wine's natural energy, brightness and viscosity. This pronounced freshness opens up the wine to long ageing potential, but it still needs to be given more time in the bottle.
