The nose of the 2008 Viña Tondonia Reserva is very elegant and fresh, with spicy aromas . On the palate it is medium-bodied, with both lightness and depth , very classic with extra freshness and everything that is needed for a long bottle ageing. The 2008 Viña Tondonia Reserva has aromas of maple syrup, smoke, licorice and crisp, fresh fruit. On the palate it is precisely defined, tart and reflects the chalkiness of the soils.

The family-run Bodega López Heredia is one of the oldest and most traditional in Rioja: in 2019, the winery took 3rd place in the "World's Best Vineyards" competition.

The winery has three vineyards, of which Tondonia is the most famous. It winds along the Ebro River at an altitude of 450 metres. The grapes from the old vines produce remarkable wines of the highest quality.

One feature in particular underlines the philosophy of the winery: the wines are given plenty of time. They are stored for years in barrels from the winery's own cooperage and the wine is only released when it has matured to perfection. This creates elegant, sophisticated wines that are most comparable to mature Burgundy or Barolo.

The winery is particularly known for its long-lasting red wines, which are aged in oak barrels in the winery's historic cellars. These wines are characterized by their elegance, complexity and ability to age. In addition to red wines, López de Heredia also produces white wines, including the famous Viña Tondonia Blanco, which is made from the indigenous Viura grape variety.
