In July 2011, Nicolas Thienpont purchased Château Alcée in Côtes de Castillon. In January 2014, the vineyard was expanded to 6.5 hectares with neighboring plots in Saint-Philippe-d'Aiguilhe. The vineyards are located on a limestone plateau whose terroir of red clay and limestone soils is similar to that of some of the best vineyards in St. Émilion.
