Dank der hervorragenden Beziehungen zu den Chateaus in Bordeaux konnte CWW Weinexperte und Beiratsmitglied Markus Del Monego einen kleinen Teil des neuen Bordeaux-Jahrgangs 2019 bereits vorab verkosten.
Primeurs in schwierigen Zeiten
Als ich Anfang März Bordeaux besuchte, war Corona eine drohende Gefahr am Horizont, und Frankreich war mehr besorgt über einen Streik der Flugsicherung. Ich reiste jedoch nach Bordeaux und hatte die Gelegenheit, erste Einblicke in den Jahrgang 2019 zu bekommen. Ich freute mich sehr auf die "en primeur-Verkostungen", die für den 26. März 2020 geplant waren, aber die Verkostungen wurden Mitte März abgesagt. Sofort nahm ich Kontakt zu den verschiedenen Verbänden und Weingütern in Bordeaux auf und bat um Kostproben. Das Ergebnis war eine kleine Anzahl von Weinen, die in Essen ankamen, bevor die Schließung Frankreichs die Lieferungen ziemlich kompliziert machte. Diese ersten Proben des Jahrgangs 2019 wurden unter unberührten Bedingungen verkostet, um eine faire und gleiche Bewertung aller Qualitäten zu gewährleisten. Tatsächlich erwiesen sich die Proben als richtig, so die Meinung einiger führender Persönlichkeiten aus Bordeaux. Bruno-Eugène Borie vom Château Ducru-Beaucaillou sieht 2019 in einer Linie mit den hervorragenden Jahrgängen 2016, 2010, 2009 und 2005. Henri Lurton spricht über seinen besten Jahrgang, zusammen mit 2016, den er je auf Château Brane-Cantenac vinifiziert hat. Philippe Dhalluin von Château Mouton-Rothschild bewertet den Jahrgang als reich und reichhaltig in Qualität und Quantität. Nach einigen kleineren Ernten erreichten sie wieder eine durchschnittliche Produktion. Emmanuel Cruse von Château d'Issan sieht, dass der 2019 viel mit dem 2016 gemeinsam hat und dennoch mehr Frische bewahrt. Es ist ein sehr guter Jahrgang, der aber in einer sehr schwierigen Zeit auf dem Markt erscheint.
Tatsächlich war der Start dieses Jahrgangs sehr positiv. Genügend Niederschläge im Winter wurden von Böden wie Kreide und Lehm zurückgehalten. Die Weinberge auf diesen wasserspeichernden Böden hatten einen großen Vorteil in der zukünftigen Wachstumsperiode. Mit Ausnahme eines feuchten Juni hat der Jahrgang von einem eher trockenen Klima profitiert, was Krankheiten in den Weinbergen weitgehend verhindert hat. Keine Chance für Mehltau oder Falscher Mehltau. Selbst die Hitzewellen haben den Reben nicht wirklich geschadet, denn der Regen setzte ein, immer im letzten Moment, aber immer noch früh genug, um massiven Wasserstress und eine Verlangsamung der Reife zu verhindern. Die späte physiologische Reife brachte viel Alkohol, aber die Weine zeigen mehr Frische als in den Vorjahren. Fabien Teitgen, Winzer von Smith-Haut-Lafitte, führt diese Frische auf die gute Säure "aufgrund der kühlen Nachttemperaturen während der Reifezeit" zurück. Diese Tatsache ist auch für Weißweine eine gute Nachricht. "Sie sind die große Überraschung", sagt Olivier Bernard von der Domaine de Chevalier. Auf Château Coutet in Barsac haben Philippe und Aline Baly in drei Durchgängen mit insgesamt 19 Lesetagen geerntet. Sie beurteilen die Bedingungen als eher ideal: "Diese klimatischen Bedingungen haben eine Ernte hervorgebracht, deren Qualität unbestreitbar vorhanden ist", so Olivier Bernard von der Domaine de Chevalier.
Leider kommt 2019 in eine schwierige Zeit, der Corona-Virus versetzt die Welt in Angst und erschwert den Handel immer mehr. Handelsbarrieren und neue Zölle schaffen einen herausfordernden Rahmen für diesen Jahrgang. Eines sollten wir jedoch nicht vergessen: Es warten wunderbare 2019er auf uns, Weine mit Alterungspotenzial und Charme, die jede Krise überstehen werden.

| This is the full list of all primeurs tasted till June 2, 2020. Up to now it was a very exciting experience as there was a chance to taste some wines at the beginning of the campaing and again at a later stage. In addition, most of the wines have hade two months more in barrels than at the usual "en primeur" tastings beginning of april. I addition I had the chance to taste the wines twice or even more often during a day. As usual my best rating is 99 points. In my opinion, the "en primeur" tastings show wines in a very early stage and a 100 points perfection should be reserved for bottled samples. As some wines have been a little bit closed during the tastings, I have more "+" signs behind the points as ever before. "+" just means that there is a promising potential and a good chance for a higher rating at a later stage. | ||||
